In a recent incident at Pune International Airport, a man was arrested for attempting to board a Lucknow-bound flight using a fake ticket. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Salim Gole Khan, was caught by CISF officials at the check-in kiosk when they detected a bogus PNR number on his ticket. This incident occurred at around 3:55 AM on Sunday, highlighting the ongoing vigilance at Indian airports.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Salim Khan had obtained the fraudulent ticket from his friend Nasruddin Khan, who is based in Uttar Pradesh. Khan reportedly paid Rs 6,500 for the ticket, unaware or indifferent to the fact that it was fake. The bogus PNR number raised alarms during the check-in process, leading to his immediate apprehension by security personnel.

During questioning, Salim Khan initially claimed that he was at the airport to see off his father, who was traveling to Lucknow on an IndiGo flight with a genuine PNR. However, further interrogation revealed inconsistencies in his statements, prompting the police to dig deeper into his motives. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact reasons behind Khan’s attempt to board the flight with a fake ticket.

A Passenger Name Record (PNR) is a unique identifier used by airlines for flight reservations. This six-character alphanumeric code allows passengers to manage their bookings online and is crucial for ensuring the authenticity of travel documents. In this case, the PNR on Khan’s ticket was flagged as invalid, leading to the exposure of the fraudulent activity.

The Pune police have registered a case against both Salim Khan and Nasruddin Khan under the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), a new set of laws governing criminal activity in India. The case is expected to bring further scrutiny on how fake tickets are being circulated and the possible involvement of others in such illegal activities.

In a separate incident, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized over 1,390 grams of gold from a passenger at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. This highlights the continuous efforts by Indian authorities to curb illegal activities at airports across the country.
